Itinerary – Snow Leopard Safari Febuary 2025
Day 1
Aerocity hotel - arrive in Delhi
On arrival into Delhi International Airport, relax after your long journey at an Aerocity Hotel before your onward flight to Leh in Ladakh the following day. Ladakh was the largest district in the country and a part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, however it has now been separated and has become a Union Territory. The city of Leh lies at an altitude of 11,562ft above sea level, one needs to acclimatise to the high altitude.
Accommodation: ideally located in the Aerocity district of New Delhi and just a short drive from Delhi International airport. Relax in comfort before starting your snow leopard adventure.
Days 2 - 3
Hotel Casa Galwan - acclimatisation, Leh
Spend the day acclimatising. This is vital since this expedition takes you to an elevation of 3500m to about 4900m. Leh, a high-desert city in the Himalayas was originally a stop for trading caravans, now it is known for its Buddhist sites and nearby trekking areas. With landscapes to take your breath away. Discover quaint mountain villages and ancient monasteries. Should you feel up to it, explore Leh to your hearts content.
Accommodation: this comfortable and homely boutique hotel has just sixteen modern, unique en-suite rooms and is a perfect place to immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquillity of Leh Ladakh. Located a 15-minute walk from the main market in Leh.
Days 4 - 8
Shan at Uley Lodge - track snow leopard
On the Snow Leopard Safari 2025 explore the area each day. Expert trackers and spotters accompany the group to help track snow leopards, as well as wolf, urial, ibex, fox and an array of birds that surprisingly thrive in this harsh winter landscape. The stark natural beauty is awe-inspiring. The climate is sub-arctic to arctic with less rainfall during summers and heavy snowfall during winters with temperatures dropping much below freezing point.
Accommodation: located in Ulley village in West Ladakh, the comfortable rooms at the lodge are equipped with modern amenities, and the cosy atmosphere will make you feel right at home. And don’t worry about the harsh winter! They provide a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for the snowy weather outside. With stunning views of the surrounding mountains, you can relax in the lounge and feel rejuvenated after a day of adventure.
Day 9
Hotel Casa Galwan, Leh
Travel back down the mountains after your expedition for a night back in Leh. Return to the warmth and hospitality of the Hotel Casa Galwan, Ladakh. The isolated former kingdom of Ladakh is located in the north of India on the border to Tibet. Known as ‘Little Tibet’, it takes a strong cultural and religious influence from its Buddhist neighbour, offering a mix of vibrant culture and spectacular mountain ranges.
Accommodation: having previously stayed at this hotel earlier in the week, you’ll be aware of the comfort this lovely hotel has to offer its guests. Each en-suite room which has a distinctive design adapted to the local climate and terrain with central heating for comfortable stays in the winter.
Day 10
Lemon Tree Premier, Delhi
This morning after an early breakfast, you will check-out of your hotel in Leh and transfer to the airport and fly back to Delhi. On arrival into Delhi international Airport, you will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel in Aerocity for your overnight stay in Delhi. It’s a great hotel to relax and reflect in comfort following your Snow Leopard adventure.
