Days 1 - 2
Planet Baobab - Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Located in Gweta village, this is a quirky place in a quirky part of the world, where they live cheek to tusk with old elephants; sleep in Afro-chic Bakalanga Huts; swim in the largest, coolest pool in the Kalahari; eat the finest pan-African cuisine, and of course, drink something cold with hunters, vagabonds, travellers and locals, in the funkiest bar in Africa. It’s the coolest desert oasis around – and a part of Africa that few will experience, but all will remember!
Accommodation: Bakalanga mud huts are en-suite and equipped with linen. The interiors of these huts reflect what Planet Baobab is about: true creativity. Made from natural materials indigenous to the Makgadikgadi area; they are perfectly temperature-controlled without the need for air-conditioners.
Days 3 - 5
Static camp - Khwai game drives
Thru-the-lens Nature Safaris offer fully supported expedition style safaris under canvas allow for the flexibility required to achieve great photography whilst exploring all the country has to offer. The ‘Okavango Khwai River’ northern circuit travels through the intensely rich game area of the Moremi Game Reserve, the Okavango’s Khwai River and the Savute region. This tented safari in a private site in the north of Botswana really is under canvas and stars!
Accommodation: spacious Sahara deluxe tents are equipped with a spacious en-suite bathroom with loo and bucket shower. Showering has never been so much fun, and water can be ordered by any of the camp’s crew at the end of a long day out photographing.
Days 6 - 8
Setari Camp - Okavango Delta
Situated within a private concession of 120,000 acres of pristine watery wilderness, exclusivity and seclusion are guaranteed. Enjoy a pure Delta experience, inhabited by a myriad of birdlife and wildlife unique to this exceptional ecosystem. The area is a birder’s paradise, boasting a huge number of migrant birds, aquatic birds, raptors, a seasonal heronry and to top it all, the hauntingly beautiful Pel’s Fishing Owl. Mokoro and motorboat excursions galore.
Accommodation: large, tented suites are built high in the trees overlooking the floodplain beyond. Stylishly furnished and all have en-suite bathrooms with outside shower and freestanding bath. Enjoy spectacular views over the Delta from your private deck.
Days 9 - 10
Jackalberry Safari Lodge - Chobe
Accommodation: beautifully appointed luxury tents perched over the majestic Chobe River and in the lodges own natural bushveld. The rooms feature spacious en-suite large rooms, private balconies and all the mod-cons.
Days 11 - 13
Pioneers Lodge - luxury and wonder
Pioneers Lodge is situated in a peaceful residential suburb, a short 2.5km from the magical falls. A modern and comfortable lodge, but still capturing the era of the early explorers and pioneers. The perfect base from which to explore one of the World’s Seven Natural Wonders, the majestic Victoria Falls. ‘Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by Angels in their flight’ is the quote that David Livingstone made when he first saw this spectacular waterfall. Now it’s your turn.
Accommodation: stylish rooms look out over manicured lawns to two secluded pool areas. Each large, well-appointed room boasts a spacious en-suite bathroom with double basins and a shower. All modern amenities are provided.
