Itinerary – Family Safari and Adventure
Days 1 - 2
Thamalakane Lodge - mokoro the Okavango
Thamalakane River Lodge is beautifully situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River within a canopy of riverine forests, just a 20 minute drive from Maun. The chalets and swimming pool take advantage of the 180-degree view of the riverbanks lined with fluttering reeds visited by an ever-changing array of waterfowl, birds and the occasional hippo. It is a delightful place to start or end a trip. Enjoy a mokoro trips and experience the tranquillity of the Okavango Delta.
Accommodation: spacious en-suite stone chalets, with interior feature wall, each with a veranda with stunning river views. The chalets are complete with mosquito nets and ceiling fans ensuring a perfect comfortable sleep.
Days 3 - 4
Luxury Mobile Safari Khwai - explore Moremi
A mobile bush safari allows you to truly experience Africa. Moremi is the first protected area in Africa to be established by local people, and the Reserve is rated as Africa’s most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Spend two nights camping, with extensive and interpretive game-drives taking up your days. The Khwai region can be described as a combination of pretty lagoons and winding channels of papyrus, which is scenically beautiful and naturally peaceful.
Accommodation: the tents are spacious, walk-in safari tents with private veranda. Tents have beds complete with comfortable mattresses, duvets and pillows. The safari is fully serviced, meaning that you don’t have to do anything!
Days 5 - 6
Luxury Mobile Safari in Savuti - Big 5 safaris
The Savuti area of Chobe National Park, renowned for lion and other predator viewing, where you will spend two nights camping near to the recently flowing Savute Channel. Huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area and its artificial watering holes in the dry season. The area is renowned for its large population of bull elephants and offers the chance of witnessing the unique interaction of resident predator species. An unparalleled safari experience.
Accommodation: camping will be in private designated campsites, with en-suite bush ablutions with every tent. Fall to sleep with a symphony of cicadas. Your private safari team travel ahead to set everything up, ready for your arrival.
Days 7 - 9
Luxury Mobile Safari in Chobe - see elephants
The safari takes you northwards to the Chobe River where your game drives will meander along the banks of the river, followed by the call of the majestic African Fish Eagle. Chobe is home to the largest population of elephants in Botswana, together with an incredible diversity of other game. See big game in open 4 x 4 land rovers or from a boat on the Chobe River. Discover this incredible area from both land and water. Sunsets in this region are spectacular.
Accommodation: with only a piece of canvas between you and the African night, dozing off to the sounds outside in the comfort of your own bed. Dine out under an African star lit sky and listen to the sound of the African bush.
Days 10 - 11
Lokuthula Lodge - delights of Victoria Falls
The stunning luxury Lokuthula Lodge meaning “place of peace” and is a tranquil haven and a perfect base to explore one of the World’s Seven Natural Wonders, the majestic Victoria Falls. Lokuthula is surrounded by 80,000 hectares of unspoilt African bush and borders the unfenced Zambezi National Park. A nearby waterhole facilitates free passage of wildlife, including buffalo, elephant, hyena and a variety of plains game, between the park and the lodges.
Accommodation: rustic thatched lodges, a mere 4 kilometres from the spectacular World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls. The individual lodges consist of two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge, terrace and braai (barbeque) area.
